I’m painting my house. It’s Hardie plank, brick, two story, 2700 sq ft. I would like to use satin latex. What recipe do I use? One prime, two cover? My home was built in 1999. How many gallons should I get? The back is gable with chimney, plus a two-car detached garage with a covered breezeway. Brush or spray? I guess call Rudy.

Tom: I would. I did last summer. I’m not going to get on a ladder and paint my house. But quickly … usually the good paints today … they don’t use a primer because it’s pre-painted already. You wash it, which is the big prep and that’s where Rudy’s guys will spend the most time. They will wipe it down with rags. They will re-caulk all the areas that need to be fixed. They will prep that whole thing.
New paints, today, are self-priming, so you’re going to end up doing two coats of probably the same paint, a good quality paint, and as far as the coverage goes, it’ll say on the cans, surface square feet, how much one can should cover. Get a little extra, because a lot of it goes on the ground and your face and in your ears and on your clothes.
Charlie: Call Rudy.
Tom: Call Rudy.
