Jasper McElroy:
Most would probably be man caves, storages, garages… A lot of them are for classic cars.
Tom Tynan:
One of the biggest shifts in the steel building industry has been the rise of square tubing construction.
Jasper McElroy:
The square tubing is becoming more and more popular, especially I’d say within the last five to 10 years, it’s really become probably the standard for your backyard shop.
Tom Tynan:
One of the benefits…
Jasper McElroy:
These square tubing buildings are a lot more streamlined, they’re a lot easier to put up.
Tom Tynan:
In large scale industrial projects that require heavy steel, traditional red iron steel construction still has its place.
Jasper McElroy:
Red iron is more of your structural steel, you see that with big, giant, 14,000 square foot warehouses.
Tom Tynan:
Square tubing doesn’t mean your backyard building has to be small.
Jasper McElroy:
We build four or 5,000 square foot warehouses out of square tubing.
Tom Tynan:
For the biggest benefit, let’s look at this job, bid two ways.
Jasper McElroy:
We bid it out with I-Beam. I think the total project, not including concrete, ended up being around 120 to $130,000. I bid out the same building in square tubing, almost identical, around 70 to $80,000.
Tom Tynan:
For almost half the price, this homeowner got the same size building.
Jasper McElroy:
You have the same exact wind rating, both of them can be rated exactly the same.
Tom Tynan:
Whether it’s a man cave, storage, or garage, strength and value are what make McElroy Supreme Buildings a certified HomeShow Pro. For homeshowradio.com, I’m Tom Tynan.
