To Face Or Not To Face

I have no insulation at all right now.

I live in Houston and am looking to put insulation in my attic. I have read conflicting answers on whether I should use faced or unfaced insulation in a hot, humid climate like Houston’s. Should I use faced insulation with the facing down against the ceiling sheetrock or unfaced for my first layer of insulation that will go between the ceiling joists?
