Charlie: Suzanne from Katy, has our next one from homeshowradio.com, that’s where these come from, by the way. She says, “My home is two years old and the breakers just started tripping when I run the dishwasher or the garbage disposal or washer. Not running them at the same time, now.” She says, “The breakers get hot. An electrician came out and replaced one breaker, the one for the dishwasher, but the problem’s still happening. I’m not sure why all three weren’t replaced. My husband dealt with them once upon a time and the wiring in the kitchen island was checked and it looked fine but, what say you?”[display_podcast
Tom: I say you get a good electrician out there to fix this problem. Ya know, people say, “I had an electrician out there to change a breaker.” But was he really a master electrician?
Charlie: Right.
Tom: Was he really licensed by the state, did he really have the experience he needs? Because this sounds very dangerous, especially if they’re getting hot. So, that’s a bad sign, so somebody needs to troubleshoot this and someone more than just a handy guy or a guy that can hang a ceiling fan. Call Right Touch Electrical and have them troubleshoot this before your house burns down.
Charlie: What would cause the breaker to get warm in the first place?
Tom: Could be a short in the wire, it could be a lot of different things. That’s why I say, you’ve got to have someone who’s really good, who can troubleshoot this.
Charlie: Alright.
Tom: I’m not going to tell you it’s one thing. It could be the appliances themselves, how they were wired, it could be a grounding problem. It could be a lot of different things and you need to get it fixed because if they’re overheating, that means they’re not … it could be one of the old Federal Pacifics that actually did not …
Charlie: Na, it’s a two-year old house.
Tom: Oh, that’s true. I didn’t remember that.
Charlie: No, I’m sorry, it was at the very beginning of the question, but.
Tom: I know, I forgot the beginning. I’m already at the end. But, no, you’re right, it would not be something like that, but in some of the older ones, that’s something they would do too. They don’t trip.
