Charlie: Byron from Cypress says he just installed a new five-ton AC unit at his house, and now every time it comes on, he can hear the duct expansion noise. It’s pretty loud, and it’s over his entertainment area. Is there any fix for this?
Podcast: Play in new window
Tom: I guess you could move the duct. I’m not sure what … He’s talking about a noise. The noise is right up there with the smell questions.
Charlie: Yeah.
Tom: I got a noise question. Okay?
Charlie: Right, right.
Tom: I’m not really sure what’s going on. I’m sure something could be done. I don’t know. Some people are more sensitive to noise than others, so I’m not sure exactly what the noise is but I’m sure something if you talked to someone who knows about your system and maybe reroute it or do something of that nature.
Charlie: He says the service tech from Absolute Comfort Air in fact, indicated it’s normal with new light-weight ducts that they use.
Tom: That’s fine. You reroute the duct to where it’s not over your head, I mean if it’s going to happen, or you change the ducts to a different type. There’s always an answer or a solution, but is it what you want to hear and what you want to pay for? That’s another story.
Charlie: Right. Okay. Bad news there.
