Tom, What kind of adhesive can be used on outdoor tile?

Charlie:
Sandy writes to us. She says, “What kind of adhesive, Tom, can be used on tile outdoors?” She’s talking about tile on the front porch.

Podcast: Play in new window

Tom:
Just use a thin-set . Simple, it’s been around forever. That’s how you put it on the outside. Nothing special for the outside, in fact, the simpler the better.

Charlie:
Why?

Tom:
Because other additives can react to water, but the Thin-sets are just a standard cement adhesive.

Charlie:
Do you find them right there with the tile at the Depot, right?

Tom:
Yeah. In a big bag.

Charlie:
All right.
