Charlie: Fallon writes to us, I have a dryer vent that goes through my roof and it’s fallen and sprayed dirty lint all over an area of my attic. He says that he is worried that this might be a fire hazard. Does he need to go clean it up or is there some agent he can spray on it?
Tom: There’s no agents. But no there is nothing to spray on it. What I would do is just … if it’s really bad just get what you can out of there, just pick it up. Is it a big fire hazard? No it’s not. You know it’s probably not a great thing to have if you have your whole attic full of that stuff. I don’t think his whole attic is going to be full of it. Get out the big stuff, fix the dryer vent and maybe put a little insulation on top or mix it down in the insulation because insulation has a fire retardant property to it. If you mix that stuff down in there chances are it’s not going to catch fire. Unless the whole house is burning then it really doesn’t matter.
