Charlie: Dan in Spring Branch says he just had to put a new roof on, and there are some exposed nails. What should he do? What do you suggest?
Dan
Tom: If they’re exposed nails in the roof cap, or areas where you’re going to have them, what you do is you take a little dab of NP1, which is a roofing caulking, and you always cover the nail heads with just a little goop of that, and that’s perfectly fine. Not roofing tar, but it’s called NP1, Nancy Paul 1. It’s a modified urethane that’s used for flashing caulking and over nail heads, and areas like that around your roof that’s exposed to the sun.
