Am I paying too much?

I am adding on to an existing concrete patio. It is a new home in Cypress. The company has quoted me $2,600 per sq ft for 231 sq ft of concrete 4″ thick with wire mesh and a 3000 psi broom finish. This is $11.26 per sq. ft.
I have researched that the average cost should be in the $3.50 – $4.50 range for this work in my area.
I believe that $2,600 is excessive. Can you confirm and or comment?

I would also like to know if you can recommend someone?
We will also be placing a proper patio attached to the existing patio roof line on top of this new concrete and the estimate we have on that is just over $10,000.

Thanks,

Matt

Tom: Charlie, people ask me – I’m just going to, instead of getting through all this because I’m not going to be able to answer this. We don’t answer questions about prices. If you ask me how much a pop-off valve for a water heater cost me last time I went into Home Depot, I’d say $12.99, that’s easy enough. I don’t know the scope of the job. Does he have dirt to bring in, do they need to pull dirt out, are there trees in the way that need to be prepped? There’s so much that goes on, the best thing to do, he’s got two conflicting bids, get some more, find out who’s in line with one another. Make sure they’re insured, make sure they’re a decent contractor, make sure your payment schedule is fair, don’t pay them up front and have them not come back, that kind of thing. That’s the only kind of thing you can do that, and that’s one thing I’ve never done on this show is price things like that.
Charlie: Get more bids.
Tom: Yeah, and then if you have some specifics you can call in but I can’t tell you what it’s going to cost, I can tell you if they’re going to do it the right way or not.
