I live in the Katy (Centerpoint) area and am looking to change electric providers. When you go to powertochoose.org it is confusing to look at what is included in the fact sheets. I use between 500 – 1000 kWh except for June-July-August when it is about 2100. Any suggestions on companies or what I need to look for in switching to a new company?
I am currently on a month to month plan with reliant.
Kenneth
Tom: Yeah. Right now, I think the best way to go is when you put in their four month to 12 month. You know you’re going to have to switch once a year at least, if you go with the 12 month plan. I happen to be on the 12 month. I think yours was shorter when we did yours but you’ll have to stay on top of it around March, right.
Charlie: Right, and you know why? Because when that plan ends, you default to that company’s month to month plan.
Tom: That’s correct so you have to be ready but they do have to warn you on the bill two to three weeks, maybe a month ahead. The bill before, I think they warn you when your plan’s coming up. It might be on every one. As far as that goes, just … I think it’s called the ESL. You go and you read the terms of the plan. They’re all very similar and so you really don’t have a lot to read. Basically, what you see on that powertochoose.org or .com from the PUC is what you’re going to pay whether it’s 8.4 or 16.1 cents per kilowatt hour.
