In your search for the best electricity provider will you be considering low usage customers? During this time of year I use less than 250 KWH and during the months of June, July, Aug and Sept of 2012 my usage averaged 684 KWH per month. For those of us on Social Security we need all the help we can get.

Tom’s Answer:
Podcast: Play in new window
Tom: That’s true, but you’re lucky to use less, so look at it as an advantage for you. If you use a lot in one month, use very, very little and actually get a little feed charge like 10 bucks, but so what, your bill is still going to be really low. As far as that goes, you can get a great deal, between 8 and 9 cents. Even if you’re only using 400 kilowatts a month you’ll still be in there.
Charlie: He kept saying that he’s using less than 250 a month.
Tom: Well, that’s so little, I don’t know how much he’d really save.
Charlie: Yeah, he says during this time of year he uses about 250 kilowatts, but then in June, July, August, September, he’s up to 684.
Tom: Okay, so yes, then he can get it around …
Charlie: Okay.
Tom: The lowest I’ve seen at that little bit around that 500 mark average is about 8.8 cents and that’s a really good price and it’s going to be very low.
Charlie: You have to shop it to get it though.
Tom: I would choose dot org, not dot com and all the others okay.
Charlie: The think that keeps coming back to me is I hear people asking your about this and you’re talking about it. There is no pushbutton simple way to get the price low. You’re going to have to do some leg work to get it done.
Tom: Right. At the beginning when it all started and I was doing TXU commercials. They were coming in and Reliant was owned by Reliant and TXU was owned by TXU. Before it all got sold and everything, it was different then, because you had one or two or maybe four players tops in the market, but today you can have 20 to 30 different players. They’re not just in this market, but they’re in markets all over the country. That’s why they keep it low.
