Charlie:
James from Huntsville says he’s got hard-water stains from his sprinkler system on the outside windows. What can he can do to get them off?
Podcast: Play in new window
Tom:
A little acid … well first off, I want to say quit spraying your windows from the sprinkler system.
Charlie:
They’re not going to grow.
Tom:
No they won’t grow actually, I didn’t think of that. It’s just bad thing to do on your house, so get your sprinkler system readjusted. Secondly, a little acid cleaner, even a Windex would probably take it off if it’s on the glass. A little vinegar and water or CLR, anything that has an acid base that will cut the hardness off there.
Charlie:
CLR?
Tom:
CLR will be fine. I’d probably just use vinegar or the Windex, it’ll probably take it right off.
Charlie:
Okay, and if it’s etched in, it’s time-
Tom:
Well then, you need new glass.
Charlie:
Then he needs new glass.
Tom:
Yeah, I don’t think it’ll be that bad.
