Charlie:
Got a note here from Tom. He says I need to replace my sewage drain pipe from my house to the city main. He says about 60, 80 feet across the backyard, Tom. He says it was infiltrated with tree roots. The plumber wants to use a schedule 40 PVC pipe for that. He wants to know, is that right?
Podcast: Play in new window
Tom:
That is right.
Charlie:
What does that mean schedule 40?
Tom:
Schedule 40 is, you have a schedule 80, schedule 40, schedule 20. That means it can be in this case 40, 40,000 pound PSI crush resistance.
Charlie:
Writing that one down.
Tom:
It’s white. The schedule 20 is black and the schedule 80 is grey and that’s used for electrical wires.
