Charlie:
Steven up in Sugar Land says he wants to put a water softener system in his house. It’s 20-year-old home and he wants to know what are the options. What would you recommend for water a softener system? It’s 6,000 square foot house. He’s got a casa grande up there.
Podcast: Play in new window
Tom:
Actually, that means a lot. There’s a lot of difference when you get into square footage but not necessarily square footage. I’m going to assume 6,000 square feet, he has quite a few more bathrooms than normal, more kitchens than normal with more faucets than normal.
Charlie:
I’d say he probably has 1 kitchen. I just-
Tom:
I mean you could have a bar, bar sink. You get into big homes like that-
Charlie:
True. True.
Tom:
4-1/2 baths.
Charlie:
A butler’s pantry or something.
Tom:
People will look into that. What somebody will have to do is come in and look at all your fixture units, toilets. How many people living in the house. How many bathrooms. How many showers. He’s looking at a commercial unit in a house that big.
Charlie:
For 6,000 square feet. Yes.
Tom:
It really is because I’ll guarantee you it’ll have over 5 bathrooms.
Charlie:
6,000 square feet.
Tom:
How many square feet in your house? You have a lot of square footage, right?
Charlie:
About that many. How many bathrooms? Hadn’t counted them. 1-
Tom:
You hadn’t … you live there.
Charlie:
1, 2. 1, 2, 3, 4. 4 bathrooms.
Tom:
And a 1/2?
Charlie:
Actually, it’ll be 1, 2, 3, and a 1/2.
Tom:
You got 3-1/2. You got a kitchen. You got laundry.
Charlie:
We’ve got a laundry. Yeah.
Tom:
You have anything else? Any other?
Charlie:
Yeah. A helipad on the roof.
Tom:
A helipad.
Charlie:
No. It’s a sofa.
Tom:
Okay. Just curious.
Charlie:
No. No.
Tom:
That’s what they’re going to come and look at. Usually when you get up to around 4 bathrooms, laundry room, big kitchen, dishwashers, anything else that might be using water like that, they’re going to have to size it to that. You also have the issue of the house being so big that you can’t use a smaller unit because it reduces the water flow, and all of a sudden everybody’s screaming about no water pressure in the shower. I don’t know if you ever get that. I get that at my house from my lovely wife.
Charlie:
She hasn’t called me. No.
Tom:
Once they size it up, call the people at AquaTex, Let them size it up, but it’s probably going to be a bigger unit than a standard like house I have at 2,400 feet.
