Where I live in Austin there are 24 2 story condo units. according to GLASSWAREad BePRO, our problem is with the CRL Snap in Vinyl Glazing Bead used on aluminum windows between the glass & outer ondoschannel. The condbrownos are 4 to 6 years old. The brown vinyl is deteriating due to heat. It has a 10 year warranty, but we’ll be facing the same problem in a few years. Should we change to a white vinyl could you suggest another option?

Tom: Having all those condos, quite frankly I don’t think they’ll let you change to white. They want everything pretty uniformed on those buildings so that would be my first question to anybody. Does white vinyl outperform a dark vinyl in heavy duty sunlight? Yeah, it’s one of the reasons that vinyl that were so popular for a while and still are somewhat but not as much, they were always white or off white. Because they tried dark ones and they would fail like crazy. So it probably would last but I don’t think they’re going to let you do it and it’s got a ten year warranty, hopefully the manufacturer will come out and re-bead those things for you. But that’s just a little vinyl piece that holds the window in the aluminum and you have to use those. You can’t use anything else, that’s what it was designed fo
