Charlie: Carol in Spring has a little issue with her faucets, Tom. She says they vibrate loudly when turned on at a certain flow. The handyman came through, went through the Sheetrock inside the house and strapped the pipes. The problem soon returned. I asked the plumber, he was there on another job, and he says probably air in the pipes. Is this dangerous? What can be done?

Tom: I can’t believe the plumber would say air in the pipes. That’s a back flow preventer that is put on an outside faucet on all of them. It’s a code requirement to keep water from backing up from a hose or something. You might be sitting in a puddle back into the clean water lines. They make it hum like crazy. If you just take those off, it’ll stop.
