We live in a new home that is on the zero lot line.
Our neighbors have planted an oak tree at the side (toward the back) of the house within 3 or 4 feet of the concrete slab. We are concerned about having a cracked slab problem in the future as the tree gets larger and its roots grow under the slab. Is there anything we can do now that will stop that from happening? A friend has suggested that we insert a barrier deep into the ground along the side of the house. Is that a solution or is there another plan of action that we could take? What kind of contractor would we talk to who could fix the problem?
