Charlie: Gary in Attucks writes that he’s looking at some AC equipment. He’s looking between two brands because his compressor went out after twenty-four years. He remembers you saying something about SEER ratings. He has one quote for a sixteen SEER and one for a fourteen SEER, and he heard you say something after thirteen SEER, in this part of the country, doesn’t make any difference, any sense.
Tom: Yeah, now, here’s what we’ve got. You’ve got a fourteen SEER and a sixteen SEER. If you’re going to get the same quality installation by a great company, don’t spend a dollar extra on the sixteen, go with the fourteen. If you’re going to buy a fourteen SEER and get it installed really bad, and I’m going to make a point out of this in a minute, or you get the sixteen SEER installed perfect, then you better spend the extra money on the sixteen SEER because they didn’t know what they were doing with the fourteen SEER. The bottom line is this, it’s not the SEER, it’s not the brand, it is the company you choose.
Charlie: Okay. All right, so what I do is I talk to the guy from the air conditioning company and say, “You know, I’m really torn here between the fourteen and sixteen. Do you know what you’re doing? Because if you don’t, I’m going to buy the more expensive one.”
Tom: What I’m saying is if you have two different companies, one’s offering one, one’s offering the other. If it’s the same company, it’s a great company, don’t spend a penny over fourteen.
Charlie: How can you tell it’s a great company, Tom?
Tom: By calling Absolute Comfort Air.
