I own a rental house and the A/C has a history of dripping from the secondary drain line.
After watching an A/C service company pour bleach down the main line to open it up, I have been doing the same thing now for a couple of years. However, this year when it started running out of the secondary line, the drain pan was dry so I was confused as to why it was running out the secondary line. I poured bleach in the main line anyway which ran through the main line properly…however the A/C continues to drip/run out of the secondary line even though the drain pan is dry and the main line is not clogged. What would cause this?

Tom: I have no idea. You would see water in there now. What could happen is on an evaporator coil, it could rust at the bottom. Whether the line’s clear or not, it’s just going to drain into that secondary line. I’m not sure about the age, but you should see water. If you don’t see water, and water’s dripping out somewhere, then you’re going to have to trace line. I don’t know what it’s doing. It doesn’t make any sense.
Charlie: Okay.
