Tom, this issue has me scratching my head looking for the answer.
We live in a 9 year old home in Coles Crossing – Cypress, TX. Every few weeks our tap water turns an ugly gray-brown color. It is through-out the house; sinks, tubs, commodes, etc. It usually lasts for about 3 days, then it runs clear again. Whatever the substance in the water, it seems to have an oily consistency. Because the water in the tanks of the commodes tends to “sit” for a time, the bottom of these tanks has a black, oily film. A couple of times I have captured some of this water in a plastic bottle, called our water company, and given the sample to them. They report that they follow up on my complaint by checking the water in the area, and it is fine… I don’t believe they ever specifically checked my samples. I have asked my neighbors if they are experiencing the same thing and they are not. What could the problem be?
