Charlie: I have a 20 year old production home. I’m the original builder, but now there’s a wet spot seemingly rising from underneath. It’s damp, not puddled and it’s about 12 inches by 6 inches in the hallway between two baths and it seems to have appeared over the last ten days. Although, they also had recently installed new central AC unit within the last year. Could that be a clue?
Jimmy
Tom: No. We’re taking something that happened a year ago and then what happened ten days ago. I suspect if it’s between, if I remember right, it was walls between bathrooms?
Charlie: Hallway between two baths, yeah.
Tom: Yeah, I’d check the bathrooms like the shower pan or leaky tub they’re using as a shower. Somewhere where the water’s going down inside the wall and then it’s crawling up underneath the carpet or floor covering of what you have and then migrating to the low spot and building up enough for you to notice it. I really think it’s going to have something between the bathrooms that’s going to be the problem.
