Will I lose my top kitchen utensil drawer if I install an induction cooktop above it? If yes, why? I really need my utensil drawer, but I would really like an induction cooktop. Many thanks!
Martha
Listen to Tom’s answer:
Podcast: Play in new window
Tom: Usually not if you put a cooktop in a, it’s going to drop down in there, they’re going to have some thickness to it. I don’t know what her cabinets look like, but probably not. She’s going to lose some space, but if she has that space now, she’s going to lose it later.
Charlie: I think she’s seeing how deep those induction ones are.
Tom: Yeah, that’s what I mean.
Charlie: They’re very deep.
Tom: You’re going to lose space; that’s it. Stay with gas, Martha; that’s the way to do. Some people are scared of gas though. My mother is scared of it, she doesn’t like it. Electric, but the conduction, is that it? Those are the ones that are kind of weird.
Charlie: Oh, convection.
Tom: No, not convection, conduction cooktop.
Charlie: Induction.
Tom: Induction, excuse me.
Charlie: Induction.
