Tom, I have been a long time listener of your show on the weekends. I have recently purchased a new home in Missouri City, Tx and was told by numerous people to install water softners due to the hard water in the area. Do you have any recommendations on companies and brands of water softners to get installed?
I think I heard you mention Kinetico before but could not remember exactly.

Tom: Water softeners, hard water in the area, that means Texas. That means a lot more than Texas.
Charlie: That means it’s an area with a 77 zipcode.
Tom: You know, it would be easier to tell people where naturally soft water is, and one of the things in New York City they say the pizza’s so good because of the water. They have naturally soft water in New York, that’s what comes through their pipes.
Charlie: I have empirical data to back that up.
Tom: Oh do you?
Charlie: When we took Kate up to New York, dropped her off, yeah.
Tom: That’s right, you’re a New Yorker now.
Charlie: We conducted a broad survey of the pizza as well.
Tom: There you go. Anyway, that’s why they say that, because it’s naturally soft water, which is very harmful to people by the way, it depletes your body of minerals. Now that I’ve gotten off that track, I’m getting back on to say water softeners in Texas, to me, are mandatory. I don’t know how people live without them, and once you get one, you say, “Oh I don’t need one,” but once you get one and live with it a while, you never go back, because it’s just so much better for bathing, cleaning, washing, everything. It takes the hardness out, and it’ll reduce your costs on repairs in your house on your equipment.
