I recently had my office renovated adding 2 sections of granite counter top. One section is particularly dull, especially around the the cut joints (30 linear feet of 16″ wide granite with 4 angled cut joints in it). I have a second 6ft x 3 ft section that did not require any cuts on-site and has much more luster to it. I feel this was possibly caused by improper installation techniques and am looking for an expert opinion on the situation. Maybe this is just the natural variability of granite or maybe there is a buffing technique to polish it up. Your help / guidance is greatly appreciated.

Tom: I’d have somebody come in and try to hone it and polish it up and then put a nice shiner on there. You say it’s where the cuts are?
Charlie: Not that kind of shiner.
Tom: Not that kind of shiner.
Charlie: I’ll fix it for you.
Tom: You know, like a polish. As far as that goes but it sounds like where they cut it, you have glues and adhesives they use there and that could hurt the surface a little bit but one thing about granite is it can be polished up.
Charlie: Just get somebody in there and polish it up.
Tom: Yeah, it’ll be messy and it’ll be a little expensive but it’ll work.
