We just changed out all our light bulbs at our house in to the new 20 plus year life bulbs. But when we change out the little low voltage lights on the truss’ that have a transformer on each light the new super life (LED?) bulbs are not bright. Could it be that the new super life/ super expensive lights don’t need the transformer?
I think other people will be changing to the long life expensive lights also and if the low voltage lights have to have the transformer removed or changed…maybe other people would want to know.

Tom: Most LED lights don’t need a transformer, so if the light isn’t meant to be low voltage, it’s going to do all kinds of weird things, so if that’s the case, yes. Now, when you go to buy light bulbs today, and LEDs is the same thing. You have to look at the lumens. If you’re used to having a 60-watt incandescent bulb and it has a certain amount of lumens, I can’t tell you what it is, you have to look at a package, you’re looking for the same amount of lumens on the light bulb you buy. If they’re not meant for low voltage, you can’t just put them in because they’re not going to work right at all. That goes with any kind of light bulb.
