I have a strange issue going on with the cement floors in my home.
Under the carpet is alot of white crystals and powdery substance that I thought was mold.
I hired a mold inspector that does not do repair for the fact that i didn’t want them to mislead me just to try to sell me remedies that I didn’t need.
The results from them indicated no mold .
What the results showed was that it is all limestone salts.
A test burn done by them as compared to NACL showed the same color and flame as the salt.
What they reported to me was that there may have been a defect in the mixing of the concrete when the slab was poured in 1970 and that they must have not mixed the correct amounts of sand, Portland cement, and aggregate.
Therefore moisture is rising through the slab and leaching out the salts from the concrete.
My question is what can I do to remedy the problem and can you recommend any companies that may have experience with this problem.
I am at a loss.
