Tom: First off, people confused the idea that there is air in the pipes. There really isn’t and if there was it wouldn’t be a problem anyway. Usually if you turn the water off to do some work on the plumbing, turn it back on, you turn the faucets on and some air will spit out. It will naturally come out. It’s not going to continue to be in there. But with a toilet, if it starts to make a lot of noise as it’s finishing the fill cycle, filling up the tank, then that usually means your filler valve is not closing all the way or it’s staying open just a touch to resonate those pipes and make a lot of noise. Chances are it’s the filler valve in the toilet that needs to be replaced.
