Charlie:
David says, “I’ve heard you say something to the effect that your siding doesn’t need to be bullet proof but any suggestions on something getting more golf ball proof?” Because the side of his garage has 18 hole and dents in it. Apparently, he lives near a gold course or he got a really angry neighbor.
Podcast: Play in new window
Tom:
Yeah, could be both.
Charlie:
Anyway, guys, who can’t relate to this next thing he says? “My wife is wearing me out to fix the side of the garage.”
Tom:
You know, the best thing for it is wood. Reside it with wood. I hate to say it, Hardie’s not going to do a very good job. Smartside products are wood but they’re particle boards so they’re going to deteriorate. The best thing would be a pine siding if he’s really concerned but he’s going to have to paint it regularly. You can still buy siding that’s wood.
Charlie:
You can, really?
Tom:
I’d even stay away from cedar because it’s too soft and will dent, leave the little dings in there. Pine’s the way to go.
Charlie:
You can always find mole wood like they use on the beds of the 18 wheelers, the super hard wood.
Tom:
Cyprus is hard as can be.
Charlie:
And gets harder with time.
Tom:
You can actually buy cyprus siding, still.
Charlie:
So there you go.
Tom:
There you go.
Charlie:
David, look for cyprus siding.
