Charlie: Ron in Woodland Heights says his home is build in ’57 is in great condition but it has this dated yellow brick exterior. What can he do about it? Can he stain it, paint it, refinish it?
Tom: Easiest thing is painting.
Charlie: Yeah.
Tom: Brick can be painted, holds paint really well. If you hate the yellow color, which I don’t blame you I probably would too, then a good paint job. Now there are brick restoration companies out there that can stain it maybe,to make it look better, I don’t know. They’ll have to do a sample for you but usually.
Charlie: How easy is that maintain a stained brick?
Tom: It is not, it’s going to ware after awhile.
Charlie: Yeah I imagine
Tom: The painting is usually what most people do.
Charlie: Yeah, so you’d say paint it. I remember I wanted to paint my first house, it was in brick and you said to me, it was white brick and you said, “Why would you take a maintenance free siding and turn it into a maintenance required siding.”
Tom: It has to be really ugly. That’s the only answer to why. In that case, this sounds for yellow, taxi cab yellow is not nice.
